Cole Darling scored 18 points, freshman JT Yoho had 17 off the bench and Wright State rode a strong first half to an 80-70 victory Friday night over Idaho in both teams' season opener.

Darling was 5 of 10 from the field and Yoho was 6 of 8; each hit two 3-pointers. Reggie Arceneaux and AJ Pacher added 10 points apiece for the Raiders, who overcame Idaho's 54 percent shooting effort by making 17 of their 19 free throws and committing only six turnovers.

Kyle Barone had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Vandals, whose only leads were 2-0 and 10-8. Idaho trailed 40-29 at halftime.

This game lacked the drama of the schools' first meeting, which came last season. In that one, Idaho's Landon Tatum banked in a half-court buzzer-beater to force overtime before Julius Mays hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer for an 80-78 Wright State win.
