Cannon, McNeese State beat Louisiana College 72-54

Dontae Cannon scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead McNeese State past Division III Louisiana College 72-54 Saturday night.

Adrian Fields added 11 points and five rebounds to go along with three steals while Jeremie Mitchell assisted with 14 points and three steals.

Louisiana College shot just 36.5 percent (19 for 52) from the floor and trailed at halftime 44-29.

Attempting to rally in the second half, the early deficit was too much to overcome for the Wildcats.

McNeese shot 52.6 percent (30 for 57) from the field to prevent Louisiana College from getting back into the game.

The Cowboys were sparked by their defense, scoring 22 points off of 21 turnovers by Louisiana College.

Romanaski Williams led Louisiana College with 12 points and Derrick Gardner had a near double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, to go along with three blocks.
