Indianapolis, IN – Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger is expected to miss three months after getting an injection to treat left patellar tendinosis, the team announced Wednesday.
Granger injured a tendon in his left knee in the team's second-round playoff loss last season to the Miami Heat. He aggravated the injury in offseason workouts.
He initially received a plasma injection on the injured knee in September and thought he could play through the pain, averaging 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in the Pacers' final two preseason games.
But he has yet to appear in a regular-season contest for the 2-2 Pacers.
The team's leading scorer the last five seasons, Granger has averaged 18.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 510 career games (423 starts) with Indiana.
