Bayer Leverkusen had a man sent off but still managed to secure a second straight win as it topped Dusseldorf 3-2 at the BayArena on Sunday.
Sidney Sam put the home side in front at the 16-minute mark. Nando Rafael leveled the score in the 40th minute, but Andre Schurrle restored Leverkusen's lead on minute later.
Leverkusen was dealt a blow when Simon Rolfes sent off in the 65th minute, but the home side still managed to score as Gonzalo Castro lifted the club to a two-goal advantage shortly after.
Adam Bodzek ensured a nervous finish for Leverkusen when he scored in the 86th minute, but the home side escaped with all three points to move back into fourth place with 18 points through 10 games.
Dusseldorf has lost four Bundesliga matches in a row, sitting just above the relegation zone with 10 points.
Werder Bremen 2, Mainz 1
Bremen, Germany - Werder Bremen edged Mainz 2-1 at the Weserstadion on Sunday thanks to a brace from Aaron Hunt.
Hunt got Bremen off the mark after just 10 minutes, but his goal was canceled out by Adam Szalai in the 64th minute. The home side was made to wait until the 84th minute for a winner as Hunt scored to steal all three points, lifting Bremen to its second win in three games.
Bremen moves into the top-half of the table with 14 points, going level with Mainz.
