Leigh Griffiths continued his strong start to the SPL season on Saturday as he scored a goal in each half of a 2-1 Hibernian win over St Mirren which sends Hibs to the top of the league.

Hibernian moves one point clear of Celtic at the summit, although the Hoops have two games in hand, while St Mirren remains second from the bottom having lost six times in 12 matches.

Griffiths entered the weekend as the league's leading scorer, and he struck the post early on before St Mirren took the lead through Kenny McLean in the 32nd minute.

However, Griffiths found the net five minutes later to level the contest, and he put the home side in front in the 65th with his league-leading 11th goal of the campaign by beating goalkeeper Craig Samson with a low shot.

Jim Goodwin was then sent off two minutes later for the visitors after collecting a second yellow card, while Griffiths was denied a hat trick by the post in the closing minutes.

Motherwell secured a 3-1 win at St Johnstone behind a pair of first-half goals from Jamie Murphy, Inverness sits in third place after a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock courtesy of William McKay's 77th-minute goal, Ross County notched its third win of the campaign, beating Aberdeen, 2-1, and Dundee won for the first time this season with Matthew Lockwood providing the only goal in the 22nd minute of a 1-0 victory against Hearts.
