Malik Cromartie blocked a 34-yard field goal attempt in the second overtime to preserve North Carolina Central's 23-20 win Saturday over Delaware State.

Oleg Parent kicked three field goals for the Eagles, the second a career-long 46-yarder to push the game into the second overtime. His 26-yard kick gave N.C. Central (6-3, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) the lead.

The Hornets (5-4, 4-2) stalled at the Eagles' 17 after Nick Elko was sacked by Xavier Proctor for a 3-yard loss and threw an incompletion. Cromartie, who had a team-high 12 tackles, then blocked Mitchell Ward's kick.

In the first three periods of regulation, N.C. Central scored first, then Delaware State answered to tie it.

After Arthur Goforth returned a punt a school-record 92 yards to put the Eagles ahead 20-13 with 13:01 left in the third quarter, Malcolm Williams scored on a 1-yard run to knot the game at 20.
