Commerce City, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Deshorn Brown netted a first-half double on Sunday as the Colorado Rapids eased to a 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Brown struck twice in the first 35 minutes and Kamani Hill scored his second goal in as many contests as the Rapids claimed a second consecutive victory on home soil.
The home side opened the scoring after just five minutes when Marvell Wynne sent a perfect cross into the area and Brown was left unmarked at the far post for an easy header into the bottom right corner.
Colorado doubled its advantage in the 35th minute as Brown slipped through the Houston defense in on goal and did well to hit the ball across his body and under the arm of a diving Tally Hall into the bottom left corner of the net.
Six minutes into the second half the Rapids put the result away as Hill got free on a Dillon Powers corner kick and smashed home his second goal of the season with an acrobatic volley.
Houston never threatened the Colorado net and failed to put any strikes on target en route to a third consecutive defeat.
The result sees the Rapids improve to 21 points on the season, while Houston remains on 17 points.
