Michael Stephens scored in the 80th minute goal to help the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Isidro Metapan 3-2 on Thursday night in the last group match in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Jack McBean gave the MLS team a 1-0 lead in the first half with a header, but El Salvador's Isidro Metapan responded in the second half with Paolo Suarez goal in the 54th-minute. McBean scored again 7 minutes later, and El Salvador's Nicolas Munoz quickly countered on a free kick to tie it at 2-2.

Los Angeles played without stars David Beckham and Robbie Keane.

As the fourth seed, Galaxy will play Costa Rica's Herediano in the quarterfinals that begin in March.

Los Angeles, which had already wrapped up a quarterfinal spot, finished 3-0-1 in the three-team group. The Puerto Rico Islanders were second at 1-2-1, and Isidro Metapan was last at 1-3-0.
