UNAM falls further off the pace

UNAM dropped seven points back of leaders Toluca and Tijuana on Saturday after a 5-0 thumping at the hands of Tigres.

Alberto Alvarado scored a hat trick for the home side, which scored three times in the span of seven minutes in the first half to take a commanding lead.

Alvarado's third goal came on the hour mark to stretch the lead to 4-0 before Elias Hernandez capped the rout with a goal of his own seven minutes from time.

Tijuana was held to a 2-2 home draw by Cruz Azul on Friday after Alejandro Castro scored the equalizer in the 75th minute for the visitors, allowing Toluca to join Tijuana at the top of the league with a 4-1 win over Santos on Sunday.

Also on Friday, Jaguares scored twice in the second half of a 2-0 victory against Puebla as Leiton Romero and Jorge Rodriguez each found the net.

Morelia got a goal from Miguel Sabah four minutes into stoppage time to steal a 2-1 away win against Queretaro, America netted two goals in the final 12 minutes against Leon to emerge as 2-1 winners, Pachuca and Monterrey played to a 1-1 draw, a goal from Santiago Trellez in the 82nd minute helped San Luis to a 3-2 win at Atlas, while Atlante recorded a 3-1 victory over Guadalajara.
