Daniel Grainger scored early and Hearts beat Motherwell, 1-0, on Sunday at Tynecastle Stadium to end a two-game losing streak in the Scottish Premier League.

Grainger had the lone goal off a 25-yard blast into the upper corner less than 14 minutes into the match, and Hearts held on for its second home victory this season in five matches and third win overall.

Motherwell lost for the first time on the road, and its winless streak reached three matches. Motherwell was undefeated in its first seven matches before its draw against Aberdeen and consecutive losses to Celtic and Hearts.

Hearts climbed to eighth in the table on 12 points, just one behind Motherwell on 13 points in sixth.
