Victor Wanyama scored a brace in a four- goal first half and Celtic cruised to a 5-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday at St Mirren Park for its fourth straight Scottish Premier League win.
Gary Hooper and Efe Ambrose gave Celtic a two-goal lead inside 18 minutes, and Wanyama added his brace with goals six minutes apart after the half-hour mark. Anthony Watt added a fifth goal four minutes from time.
Celtic is atop the table on 20 points from nine matches, three points clear of St Johnstone. St Mirren lost for the third time in its last four fixtures and dropped eight points off the pace in eighth.
Hooper turned a cross from Lassed Nouioui into the net to begin the scoring in the 15th, and Ambrose slotted in a rebound three minutes later to send Celtic on its way.
Wanyama deposited a deflected corner kick in the 32nd minute and completed his brace six minutes later off an assist from Charlie Mulgrew with a curling shot past Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson.
Watt found the final goal off header from close range, as Celtic warmed up for its trip to Spain to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday with an impressive win.
Murray Davidson and Nigel Hasselbaink scored as St Johnstone edged Kilmarnock, 2-1, for its fifth straight win during a six-game unbeaten streak to move into second place and remain within reach of Celtic.
Hibernian slipped two spots to fourth and five points off the pace, as it lost 3-2 at promoted Ross County. Colin McMenamin scored the match-winner with just seven minutes remaining for Ross, which snapped a three-game losing streak.
