Man Unitd manager Alex Ferguson criticizes Rio Ferdinand for not wearing ant-racism T-shirt

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has criticized Rio Ferdinand for not wearing a T-shirt during an anti-racism campaign, calling the decision "embarrassing."

Ferguson hinted at disciplinary action for the defender.

Players across England donned the T-shirts during the warm-up before league matches on Saturday as part of the Kick It Out campaign against racial abuse.

However, Ferdinand didn't wear the shirt before United's 4-2 win over Stoke in protest for the campaign group's perceived lack of action during recent high-profile racism cases.

Chelsea's John Terry was recently banned for four matches for racially abusing Ferdinand's brother, Anton, during a league game. Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said Saturday Terry will remain the club's captain.

In an interview with United's in-house television channel, Ferguson adds Rio Ferdinand's action "lets us down."
