England held to draw in Poland

A 70th-minute goal from Kamil Glik forced England to settle for a 1-1 draw against Poland on Wednesday in a Group H match in UEFA World Cup qualifying.

The game was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, but the roof at the stadium in Warsaw wasn't closed in time, allowing a rainstorm to soak the field and make it unplayable.

Poland started the game better but England took the lead on the half-hour mark when Steven Gerrard's corner kick was headed home by Wayne Rooney.

England continued to spend much of its time defending, and Poland finally found the equalizer 20 minutes from time with a corner kick of its own.

Ludovic Obraniak swung the ball into the area and Glik beat both defender Joleon Lescott and onrushing goalkeeper Joe Hart to the ball, sending a glancing header past both and into the net.

The result moves England to the top of the group, one point clear of second- place Montenegro, which has played one fewer game.

Poland remains unbeaten after the draw and sits in third place with five points from three games.
