The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed relief pitcher Cory Wade and outfielder Scott Cousins off waivers, the team announced Wednesday.

Wade was designated for assignment by the New York Yankees last week and spent the last two seasons with the Bronx Bombers. The right-hander registered a 6-1 record and a solid 2.04 earned run average over 40 appearances in 2011, but slipped to a 6.46 ERA in 39 games this past season.

Cousins, a third-round draft choice of the Marlins in 2006, owns a .183 average in 128 games over parts of the last three seasons with Miami. The 27- year-old spent the majority of 2012 with Triple-A New Orleans and batted .296 with 14 stolen bases.
