Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Ezequiel Miralles scored a goal in each half to lead Santos to a 2-0 win over Vasco da Gama on Sunday.
Miralles found the net for the first time after eight minutes, and he was on target again just after the break, clinching the win for Santos, which continues its good run of form with just one defeat from its last eight matches.
Despite its recent run of positive results, Santos remains well off the pace of leaders Fluminense, who rallied from a goal down in the second half to claim a 2-1 win against Ponte Preta.
Fluminense went behind to a goal from Luan in the second minute, but Ponte Preta had Wendell sent off in the 73rd before a penalty kick from Fred leveled the match in the 79th.
Gum then handed Fluminense the win two minutes from time, keeping the club nine points clear of second-place Atletico Mineiro, who got two goals from Leonardo on Sunday in a 2-1 victory against Sport Recife.
Also on Sunday, Deivid's goal in the 72nd minute helped Coritiba to a 2-1 victory against Bahia, Nautico secured a 1-0 triumph over Palmeiras courtesy of Kieza's goal in the 14th minute, Sao Paulo doubled up on Figueirense, 2-0, with first-half strikes from Luis Fabiano and Douglas and Botafogo stole a point at Gremio as Bruno scored in stoppage time to help his side to a 1-1 draw.
On Saturday, Flamengo and Cruzeiro traded goals in the opening 20 minutes of a 1-1 draw, Goianiense scored three times in the second half to claim a 3-1 win over Internacional and Portuguesa and Corinthians finished in a 1-1 deadlock with both teams scoring in the game's first 15 minutes.
