Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves have rewarded general manager Frank Wren with a contract extension through the 2014 season.
Wren, who just completed his fifth year at the controls, had been under contract through 2013. The Braves have reached the playoffs twice under his stewardship, first in 2010 and again this past year.
Atlanta lost to San Francisco in the 2010 Division Series, then collapsed last September and missed a playoff berth on the final day of the season. This year's squad was 94-68 and lost to St. Louis in the inaugural wild card playoff game.
Wren, a member of Atlanta's front office for 13 years, was named the club's GM in October 2007.
The Braves also promoted John Coppolella from director of pro scouting to assistant general manager.
