The Houston Texans have signed veteran linebacker Barrett Ruud in the wake of a season-ending injury to linebacker Brian Cushing.
Cushing tore his ACL in the victory against the New York Jets on Monday night and was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. To fill his spot on the roster, the Texans signed Ruud, who was released by the New Orleans Saints on Monday.
Ruud had seen limited action with New Orleans this season, but the eight-year veteran has amassed 642 tackles, six forced fumbles and seven interceptions over the course of his career.
He spent his first six years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recorded over 100 tackles in four consecutive seasons between 2007-2010. He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2011, but played in just nine games before being place on IR with a nagging groin injury.
The Titans also announced that they have signed guard Cody White from the practice squad and released kick returner Trindon Holliday.
