Green Bay, WI – The Green Bay Packers announced that they have placed running back Cedric Benson on the injured reserve designated to return list.
Benson injured his foot during last Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He was expected to miss Week 6's matchup against the Houston Texans, but now won't be eligible to practice for six weeks and can't play for eight weeks.
The earliest he will be able to return to game action will be Dec. 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.
In five games this season, Benson has rushed for 248 yards and a touchdown on 71 carries and has caught 14 passes for 97 yards.
In other injury news, wide receiver Greg Jennings, tight end Jermichael Finley and nose tackle B.J. Raji were all held out of Wednesday's practice, leaving each's status for the Houston game in question.
Jennings missed last week's 30-27 setback to the Colts with a groin strain that has bothered him since the early portion of the season, while Finley and Raji were forced out of Sunday's contest with shoulder and ankle injuries, respectively.
