Sporting Kansas City midfielder Roger Espinoza suffered a sprained ankle in his team's 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew on Sunday.
Espinoza sustained the injury in stoppage time, and subsequent tests revealed the extent of the injury, which is expected to sideline Espinoza for up to a month.
Sporting leads the Eastern Conference and finishes its regular-season campaign with matches against Red Bull New York and the Philadelphia Union.
Espinoza has started 26 games for Sporting this season, and he is expected to be back for the playoffs.
However, the injury will prevent him from taking part in Honduras' upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Panama and Canada.
