Coach Les Miles says No. 9 LSU has no issues with effort, Tigers just need to play smarter

Les Miles says talking about a regular-season loss for the first time nearly a year-and-a-half is a miserable experience for the ninth-ranked LSU Tigers.

The coach says LSU (5-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) was stung by its 14-6 loss at Florida last weekend and understands it must play better in both the running and passing game if it hopes to beat No. 3 South Carolina (6-0, 4-0) in Tiger Stadium this Saturday night.

Miles says he's pleased with his players' effort, but adds they have to "play smarter."

LSU safety Eric Reid says playing the highly ranked Gamecocks this weekend leaves little time to make corrections, but also gives the Tigers a chance for the type of immediate redemption that will place them right back in the national title discussion.
