Glasgow, Scotland – A first-half goal from Georgios Samaras was enough to lift Celtic to the top of the Scottish Premier League on Sunday as the Hoops secured a 1-0 win over Hearts at Celtic Park.
Samaras netted the winning goal in Celtic's Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow in midweek, and he was on target again in the 35th minute to put Celtic ahead.
Kris Commons released the Greece international with a through ball and he finished off the move by firing a shot between the legs of goalkeeper Peter Enckelman.
The home side had chances to extend its lead but failed to do so, and Hearts nearly equalized in stoppage time when a shot from Andrew Driver sailed just wide.
