The University of Texas unveiled a 7-foot bronze statue of former women's basketball coach Jody Conradt on Friday to honor her 900 career wins, her 1986 national championship and her role in shaping women's athletics since the early 1970s.

Conradt retired from coaching in 2007 after 31 seasons with the Longhorns. The statue of her flashing the "Hook'em Horns" hand salute was placed inside the Frank Erwin Center basketball arena.

Conradt is the first women's athletic official to be honored with a statue on the Texas campus.

Former Tennessee coach Pat Summitt, Conradt's longtime friend and rival, was among about 600 people at the ceremony, which included dozens of Conradt's former players.

Conradt's 1985-86 team was the first undefeated national champion in women's basketball.
