Joe Saunders will start Baltimore's first postseason game in 15 years.
Orioles manager Buck Showalter tabbed the in-season acquisition for Friday's American League wild card matchup against the Texas Rangers.
The 31-year-old lefty went 3-3 with a 3.63 earned run average in seven starts for Baltimore after coming over from Arizona in an August trade.
Saunders has faced the Rangers in the past, but the results are unpleasant. He has a 3-7 record and a 6.48 ERA in 11 career starts. The numbers are even worse at Rangers Ballpark, the site for the win-or-go-home contest. He is 0-6 with a 9.38 ERA in six outings in Arlington.
