Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is expected to miss the next eight weeks after sustaining a dislocated elbow in his side's 2-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Puyol was only just returning to the lineup after struggling with a hamstring problem when he fell awkwardly inside the penalty area during Tuesday's game with 15 minutes to play.
Barcelona went in front in the match with goals from Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas, but the win had some of the shine taken off of it when Puyol's arm seemed to be trapped underneath his body as he fell while going up for a header.
The club has said that Puyol will probably not require surgery, but the injury will rule him out for Sunday's El Clasico clash with Real Madrid.
