Gremio slipped nine points off the pace in third as it was held to a 1-1 draw Sunday against Santos in a game both sides finished with 10 men Sunday. Neymar was sent off for Santos.

Vasco da Gama stayed 12 off the top as Carlos Tenorio and Juninho Pernambucano scored in the second half of a 3-1 win over Figueirense on Saturday.
Also Saturday, Hernan Barcos scored twice in the first half as Palmeiras moved closer to safety with a 3-0 win over Ponte Preta, Kieza scored two as Nautico beat Goianiense, 2-0, and Cruzeiro tied Internacional, 0-0.
