Officially out of the playoff race, the Philadelphia Phillies send Roy Halladay to the mound for his final start of the 2012 season Saturday against the Miami Marlins.

Halladay will try to bounce back from a disastrous start a week ago when he was shelled for five hits and seven runs over 1 2/3 innings of an 8-2 defeat to the Atlanta Braves. The two-time Cy Young Award winner is 6-4 with a 2.85 ERA in 13 career games against the Marlins.

Ricky Nolasco is 4-1 with a 2.95 ERA in his last eight starts, with three complete games (two shutouts). Nolasco has walked only three batters over his last 41 innings and has 27 strikeouts in that span. He's 8-4 in 17 career appearances (14 starts) against the Phillies.

Carlos Lee's RBI single in the ninth inning gave the Marlins a 2-1 win last night.

Josh Lindblom (3-4) was on the mound to start the inning and Bryan Petersen doubled down the right-field line to begin the inning. After a groundout by Jose Reyes, Giancarlo Stanton was issued a free pass. Lee then punched a single to left and Petersen easily scored.

Philadelphia had won five straight NL East crowns coming into the season. While that was no longer a possibility, the team was still mathematically alive for the postseason.

The loss, though, guarantees that the team will not be playing in the postseason for the first time since 2006.

"It's clearly disappointing because that's not what we wanted coming into the season," said Philadelphia starter Cliff Lee. "We expected to win this division and go to the World Series, but that's not happening now."

Stanton blasted a monster home run in the fourth inning while Steve Cishek (5-2) got the win for pitching a scoreless ninth for the Marlins, who snapped a seven-game losing streak.

"Whenever you get a win it feels good," said Lee. "You know, we haven't had a good season here, but we want to finish strong and we'll come out every night and fight."

Jimmy Rollins drove in the lone run of the game for the Phillies, who have lost five of six to fall back below .500.

The season series is even after 16 games.
