Gameiro's brace leads PSG over Sochaux

Kevin Gameiro scored twice in the first half as PSG continued to roll Saturday with a 2-0 win over Sochaux in Ligue 1.

PSG tied its first three games, including two scoreless draws, but has claimed its last four and outscored its opponents, 10-1, in that stretch.

With more than $100 million in offseason additions settling in with the high- price talent already on board, PSG has turned into the force everyone in Ligue 1 expected.

With four wins and three draws, PSG is one of five teams still unbeaten in the league and play first-place Marseille next weekend.

Gameiro opened the scoring 11 minutes into the fixture at the Parc des Princes with a finish to the bottom-left corner off a pass from Javier Pastore and was on target again in the 33rd, when he converted a cross from Maxwell.

Sochaux had its two-game win streak snapped as it lost for the fifth time this season.

Montpellier 2, Nancy 0

Nancy, France - Younes Belhanda and Souleymane Camara scored after halftime as defending Ligue 1 champion Montpellier won its second match of the season, 2-0 over Nancy on Saturday at the Stade Marcel Picot.

Montpellier had just one win through its first six games, but Belhanda notched the first goal in the 66th and Camara sealed its second win in the 90th minute on the road.

Nancy lost its fifth straight since starting the season with four points from its first two matches.

Evian 1, Lorient 1

Annecy, France - Gilles Sunu scored four minutes from time as Lorient remained unbeaten in Ligue 1 with a 1-1 draw against Evian on Saturday at the Parc des Sports.

Saber Khelifa handed Evian the lead just eight minutes into the match, but the hosts surrendered the lead in the 86th when Sunu struck.

Lorient has four draws to go with three wins this season, and sits five points off the pace of first-place Marseille. Evian picked up its fifth point of the season.

Nice 2, Bastia 2

Nice, France - Anthony Modeste scored 19 minutes from time as Bastia secured a 2-2 draw against Nice on Saturday at the Stade Municipal du Ray in Ligue 1.

Nice led twice through Dario Cvitanich and Renato Civelli, but Jerome Rothen answered the first goal and Modeste the second as the visitors got a point.

Since losing its opener, Nice has five ties during a six-game unbeaten streak. Bastia picked up its first draw to end a four-game losing streak.

Toulouse 2, Troyes 0

Troyes, France - Ben Yedder and Emmanuel Riviere scored in the second half as Toulouse downed Troyes, 2-0, on Saturday at the Stade de l'Aube in Ligue 1.

Yedder opened the scoring in the 65th minute and Riviere sealed three big road points in the 73rd, as Toulouse sealed its third victory to climb within three points of first-place Marseille.

Promoted Troyes lost for the fifth time and is the only winless side remaining in the league.

Ajaccio 1, Brest 0

Ajaccio, France - Mehdi Mostefa scored early in the second half as Ajaccio won 1-0 over Brest on Saturday at the Stade Francois Coty in Ligue 1.

Ajaccio won for the third time this season and has nine points from six games. Brest lost for the fourth time, but has won its other three matches.
