Russell Henley fired a 6-under 66 on Thursday and was joined atop the leaderboard by five others with the first round of the Chiquita Classic suspended due to darkness.
Henley shares the lead at The Club at Longview with Skip Kendall, Will Wilcox, Jason Kokrak and Scott Dunlap. Two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen was 6- under through 17 holes.
There was a 90-minute fog delay early in the day so the round was unable to be completed.
Doug LaBelle II, who is 23rd on the money list, is one of 10 players tied at minus-5.
Two-time European Ryder Cup performer Robert Karlsson shot 4-under 68 and is among a logjam at minus-4. Defending champion Russell Knox also carded a 68 on Thursday.
Henley opened with a bogey on the 10th, then birdied four of the next five holes. He birdied the par-4 18th to make the turn at minus-4.
On the front side, Henley dropped in back-to-back birdies from the third. He moved to 7-under with a birdie on the seventh, but he bogeyed the eighth to finish at minus-6.
Kendall had two birdies in the first four holes, but he stumbled to a double- bogey at the sixth to slip back to even-par. He birdied three of the next five holes, then closed with three birdies in the last five holes to post 66.
Wilcox opened with six straight pars. He then ran off six consecutive birdies from the 16th. After a bogey on No. 5, Wilcox came back with a birdie at the par-5 sixth to grab a piece of the lead.
Kokrak birdied his first three holes from the 10th, then bogeyed 13 and 14. He bounced back with a birdie on the 15th, and another at No. 18 to make the turn at 3-under. Kokrak made it two in a row with a birdie on the first.
He parred six straight before making birdie on his final two holes.
Dunlap birdied the par-4 first, then parred nine in row. He posted five birdies in a 7-hole span from the 11th to gain a share of the lead.
Janzen birdied 11 and 12 before parring the last six holes on his opening nine. Around the turn, Janzen birdied three of his first four holes to get within one of the lead. He birdied the par-3 seventh to join the leaders at minus-6 before play was called for the day.
"I was hoping we could get to the last tee before they blew the horns because its worth it to finish in the dark," Janzen said. "Instead of me having an 8:15 tee time for the second round, I'll now come back an hour earlier and finish, then eat something and go back out there."
NOTES: The first round will resume at 7:15 a.m. ET...The top two players on the money list, Luke Guthrie and Luke List, are both off this week...Chris Riley (76), Nick O'Hern (76) and Jason Gore (78) were among those that struggled on Thursday.
