Metz, France – Jo-Wilfried Tsonga thrilled the French crowd with a straight-set rout of Andreas Seppi to capture the Moselle Open.
The top-seeded Tsonga needed a mere 50 minutes to earn a 6-1, 6-2 victory in Sunday's final for his ninth career title and second straight at this event. He improved to 9-5 all-time in finals, including 2-0 in 2012, having captured the Australian Open tune-up in Doha to start the year.
Seppi, who won the Serbia Open in May, denied a rematch of the Doha final on Saturday when he knocked off Frenchman Gael Monfils in the semifinals. The fifth-seeded Italian fell to 2-3 in title matches, including 1-2 this year. His other loss came against American Andy Roddick at the Wimbledon tune-up in Eastbourne.
Tsonga dominated from the start with a powerful serve. He ripped seven aces and dropped just one of 26 points when connecting on his first serve. Seppi was broken four times and didn't manage a single break-point against Tsonga's serve.
In total, Tsonga won 50 of the 74 points played.
Tsonga, who improved to 3-1 lifetime against Seppi, collected a first prize of $93,350.
