Mexico City, Mexico – Monterrey won for the third time in its last four games on Saturday, securing a 3-2 win over Queretaro to move into third place in the league table.
Carlos Bueno's first-half goal had Queretaro in front at the break, but goals from Neri Cardozo and Abraham Carreno put Monterrey on top with 20 minutes to play.
Diego Guastavino responded two minutes later to pull Queretaro level, only for Angel Martinez to net the winning goal in the 82nd minute, which leaves Monterrey four points off the top of the table.
Toluca moved to the top of the league with a 1-0 win over Atlante on Sunday as Luis Tejada netted the lone goal six minutes from time to snap a three-game winless skid for the club.
Tijuana is level on 20 points with Toluca after the club needed a goal from Duvier Riascos in the 76th minute to earn a 1-1 draw at home against Atlas.
On Friday, Leon and Puebla played to a 1-1 draw, while Morelia and Tigres also finished 1-1 as the two sides traded second-half goals six minutes apart.
San Luis claimed a 1-0 victory over Pachuca behind Jaime Correa's first-half goal, Santos and Jaguares finished 0-0, Cruz Azul and America played to a 1-1 draw and Guadalajara was held scoreless in a 0-0 home draw against UNAM.
