Hamburg, Germany – Hamburg picked up its first win of the Bundesliga campaign, and in the process brought an end to Borussia Dortmund's 31-game league unbeaten streak with a 3-2 victory at HSV Arena.
The home side needed less than two minutes to seize the lead as Heung-Min Son scored the lone goal of the first half.
Dortmund equalized shortly after the break through Ivan Perisic, only for Ivo Ilicevic to restore Hamburg's one-goal lead in the 55th minute.
Son was on target again for the home side four minutes later, which stretched the lead to 3-1, while Perisic tallied his second goal on the hour mark to make it 3-2.
Dortmund spent much of the remainder of the contest in the Hamburg end of the field, but the visitors were unable to find the equalizer which would have extended their unbeaten run.
Bayern Munich 2, Schalke 0
Gelsenkirchen, Germany - Bayern Munich climbed five points clear of defending champions Borussia Dortmund on Saturday as second-half goals from Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller handed the club a 2-0 win at Schalke.
Bayern has now won its first four games of the Bundesliga season to join Eintracht at the top of the league.
Following a cautious first half, Kroos was able to unlock the Schalke defense in the 55th minute when he exchanged passes with Muller and slotted home the return ball.
Muller scored his fourth goal of the season a few minutes later to double Bayern's lead when he walked through the Schalke defense and found the corner of the net.
The visitors then saw off any threat from Schalke and comfortably held out for three points.
Mainz 2, Augsburg 0
Mainz, Germany - Mainz claimed its first win of the season on Saturday at home against struggling Augsburg as a pair of first-half goals was enough to give the hosts a 2-0 win.
Andreas Ivanschitz was a bit lucky to score in the 10th minute for Mainz as he blocked a clearing attempt from an Augsburg defender and watched the ball redirect into the visiting goal.
The second goal for Mainz arrived in the 25th minute and it came from a nice individual effort from Adam Szalai, who turned with the ball past two defenders inside the penalty area and slotted his shot into the bottom corner of the net.
Augsburg struck the crossbar in the second half but it was as close as the team would come, and the result leaves them with just one point from four games.
Wolfsburg 1, Greuther Furth 1
Wolfsburg, Germany - Wolfsburg and Greuther Furth traded first-half goals in a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Volkswagen Arena.
Greuther Furth jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute with the help of an own goal from Wolfsburg's Emanuel Pogatetz.
However, the home side responded shortly before halftime with a goal from Ivica Olic, who opened his Wolfsburg account to help his side snatch a point.
Dusseldorf 0, Freiburg 0
Dusseldorf, Germany - Dusseldorf maintained its unbeaten record on Saturday with a 0-0 home draw against Freiburg.
The best chance of the match for either side came just before the final whistle as Dusseldorf came within inches of snatching a late winner.
Johannes van den Bergh crossed the ball to the back post for Nando Rafael, and he struck the crossbar with a shot from a tight angle, forcing both teams to settle for a point.
Dusseldorf has drawn three of its first four games with a win, while Freiburg has earned five points from four contests.
