Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix Suns forward Channing Frye will be sidelined indefinitely after being diagnosed with an enlarged heart.
Frye will be out until at least December as the team physicians monitor his situation. The condition was discovered during a routine echocardiogram.
"Nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of our players," said Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby. "Channing and his family have the full support of our organization. His health is our primary concern and we are committed to helping him in any way he needs."
Frye, 29, has spent the last three seasons in Phoenix and has become one of the best 3-point shooters in the league. His 434 makes from behind the arc over the last three years ranks third in the NBA in that span.
In 64 games last season, Frye averaged 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
The University of Arizona product has also had stints with the New York Knicks and the Portland Trail Blazers and has played in 500 career games.
