D'Backs bring up Jacobs, Pollock

The Arizona Diamondbacks made a series of roster moves Wednesday, selecting the contract of infielder Mike Jacobs, recalling outfielder A.J. Pollock and designating outfielder Cole Gillespie for assignment.

Jacobs, a six-year veteran, spent 101 games this year with Triple-A Reno, where he batted .279 with 18 home runs and 60 RBI. Between 2005 and 2010, he played for the Mets, Royals and Marlins, hitting .253 with 100 home runs and 310 RBI total in 556 games.

A 24-year-old rookie, Pollock has played in 22 games for the D'Backs this year as well as 106 games for Reno. In the big leagues, he has played most of his time in centerfield, batting .250, with a home run and five RBI.

Gillespie, 28, appeared in 50 career games over the previous two seasons with Arizona, hitting just .236 with three home runs and 16 RBI.
