The Cleveland Indians have activated designated hitter Travis Hafner from the 15-day disabled list, the team said Wednesday.
Hafner, 35, has been on the DL since early August with lower back inflammation, his second time sitting out this year with the same injury. Hafner also missed time on the DL earlier this season after right knee surgery.
This year, Hafner -- who has been plagued by a series of DL stints over the last five years with Cleveland -- has appeared in just 60 games, hitting .239 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI.
Over an 11-year MLB career, Hafner is a .278 hitter with 200 home runs and 692 RBI.
Indians manager Manny Acta said that Hafner will start tonight against the Minnesota Twins, where he will bat in the No. 6 spot.
