Towson, MD – Drake already had seen enough of Indiana State running back Shakir Bell and his 133 yards by halftime of Saturday's game.
It turns out he was just getting started.
Bell broke off touchdown runs 60 and 46 yards in the third quarter and finished with a school-record 349 yards on 33 carries to fuel the No. 22 Sycamore past Drake, 27-10.
He broke his own school record of 256 rushing yards set against Youngstown State last Sept. 24.
Bell was the FCS rushing leader and tied for second in the Walter Payton Award voting a year ago.
This season, he has rushed for 610 yards through three games.
Indiana State improved to 2-1 while dropping Drake to 1-2.
Mike Piatkowski threw for 329 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown pass to Nick Rose for the Bulldogs.
Elsewhere, No. 22 The Citadel continued to throw the Southern Conference race upside down by blasting No. 8 Appalachian State, 52-28, one week after it edged defending champion Georgia Southern.

The defending FCS national champion plays its final non-conference game on Sept. 22 against Prairie View A&M.

Sam Houston State let a 20-10 halftime lead slip away.
Timothy Flanders gained 84 yards on the ground in the loss. Quarterback Brian Bell rushed for a touchdown and threw for another, but had three interceptions.
No. 3 Montana State (3-0) 43, No. 23 Stephen F. Austin (1-2) 35
Montana State's Cody Kirk rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns and Tanner Bleskin caught 10 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown, offsetting Brady Attaway's three touchdown passes for the visiting Lumberjacks.
MSU overcame a 35-34 deficit on Kirk's 5-yard touchdown run with 2:26 left in the game.
West Virginia (2-0) 42, No. 4 James Madison (2-1) 12
James Madison fell behind 28-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game. Jauan Latney scored on a 20-yard run with 49 seconds left in the game to account for the Dukes' only touchdown.
No. 5 Youngstown State (3-0) 31, Albany (2-1) 24
Youngstown State improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2005 as Jamaine Cook rushed for 161 and three touchdowns on 33 carries.
Albany's Will Fiacchi threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns.
No. 6 Old Dominion (3-0) 70, Campbell (1-2) 14
Sophomore signal-caller Taylor Heinicke set a new school record with seven touchdown passes. He completed 21-of-29 attempts for 486 yards and added 41 rushing yards and one touchdown.
The Monarchs had 782 total yards.
Heinicke has thrown for 14 total touchdowns and only four interceptions on the year.
Iowa (2-1) 27, No. 7 Northern Iowa (1-2) 16
Northern Iowa continued to impress in defeat. Tyler Sievertsen kicked three fields and David Johnson (77 rushing yards, 77 receiving yards) scored on a 1- yard run for the game's opening touchdown.
No. 21 The Citadel (3-0) 52, No. 8 Appalachian State (1-2) 28
Quarterback Ben Dupree rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns and Darien Robinson (113 yards, one touchdown) and Rickey Anderson (102, one touchdown) also went over the century mark in the Bulldogs' 463-yard ground assault. They held the ball for 38 minutes, 11 seconds.
Steven Miller rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns for Appalachian State, whose 24-point loss was its largest at the hands of an FCS opponent since a 54-7 loss to Georgia Southern on Oct. 16, 2004.
No. 9 Wofford (3-0) 49, Western Carolina (1-2) 14
Wofford passed for only five yards, but it didn't matter because the Terriers rushed for 590 yards, led by Eric Breitenstein (160 yards, three touchdowns), quarterback Michael Weimer (141 yards, two touchdowns) and Donovan Johnson (126 yards, one touchdown).

The FBS-tormenting Eagles visit Weber State on Sept. 22 for their Big Sky opener.
No. 11 Georgia Southern (1-1), Idle
After stumbling to The Citadel last Saturday, the Eagles return to Southern Conference action against Elon on Sept. 22.
No. 12 Towson (1-1) 20, William & Mary (0-3) 17
Towson won its CAA Football opener as well as its home opener for the ninth straight season. Spencer Wilkins pounced on Tigers quarterback Grant Enders' fumble in the William & Mary end zone for a touchdown and Enders threw a 14- yard TD pass to Erron Banks
Terrance West rushed for 153 yards on 27 carries in the win, but he failed to score, ending a streak of nine games in which he had at least two touchdowns.
No. 13 Delaware (3-0) 19, Bucknell (1-1) 3
Sean Baner's four field goals helped Delaware to its third straight home win to open the season.
Blue Hens quarterback Trent Hurley scored the game's only touchdown on an 11- yard run in the third quarter.
No. 14 Montana (2-1) 34, Liberty (0-3) 14
Peter Nguyen scored on a 90-yard punt return and quarterback Trent McKinney threw for a touchdown and rushed for another one as the Grizzlies got back on track after last Saturday's loss at Appalachian State.
No. 15 Illinois State (3-0) 54, Eastern Illinois (1-2) 51, double overtime
Matt Brown's 25-yard touchdown pass to Tyrone Walker in the second overtime lifted the Redbirds to an exciting win in the 101st edition of the Mid- American Classic.
The 105 combined points were a series record.
EIU had gone ahead 48-45 on Cameron Berra's 40-yard field goal to open the second overtime. Earlier, Berra's 20-yarder at the end of the fourth quarter sent the game to overtime.
Brown completed 42-of-57 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns, with one interception.
No. 16 Lehigh (3-0) 17, Princeton (0-1) 14
Lehigh built a 17-0 halftime lead and held on for the win. Senior Mike Colvin threw for 276 yards and rushed for 57 yards, while junior Nigel Muhammad collected a game-high 12 tackles, two sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.

Miguel Maysonet rushed for 158 yards and one touchdown, but Stony Brook was upended by Ryan Nassib's three touchdown passes for the Orange.

Nico Steriti rushed for a team-leading 104 yards and Jimmy Owens added 91 yards and two touchdowns as UNH accumulated 331 yards on the ground - their highest output in nearly six years. Nick Cefalo collected two of the Wildcats' four interceptions.

McNeese State's 557-yard effort included Diontae Spencer rushing for a 91-yard touchdown on an end-around.
Cody Stroud was an efficient 20-of-27 for 256 yards and one touchdown and Javaris Murray rushed 122 yards and a touchdown.

Eastern Kentucky held Coastal Carolina to 106 rushing yards, while senior running back Matt Denham rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown.
The Colonels utilized quarterbacks T.J. Pryor and Jared McClain, who were a combined 13-of-18 for 225 yards and two touchdowns.

Drake didn't have much defense for Indiana State junior Shakir Bell, who rushed for 349 and two touchdowns, but the Sycamores had some with linebackers Aaron Archie and Jacolby Washington, who collected 14 tackles each.

The Gamecocks have an extra week of preparation for their Ohio Valley Conference visit to No. 22 Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 22.

The Black Bears piled up 352 rushing yards while having two 100-yard rushers for the first time since 2008. Rickey Stevens picked up 168 yards on 17 carries and David Hood gained 102 yards and scored two first-half touchdowns.
Bryant's Jordan Brown rushed for 63 yards.
