Parker Kligerman won the pole for tonight’s American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway, becoming the eighth different driver in as many races to qualify No. 1 for a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
Kligerman, who has been fast all weekend, continued his strong pace as he put the No. 7 Red Horse Racing Toyota on the pole with a lap of 137.507 miles per hour. It was Kligerman’s first career pole in 41 Truck Series starts.
Starting alongside Kligerman is the other driver who’s been burning up the track this weekend, 18-year-old Ryan Blaney. In just his third start in Brad Keselowski’s No. 29 Ram, Blaney qualified at 137.064 mph to claim the outside spot on Row 1.
Row 2 will be Nelson Piquet Jr., 136.648 mph in the first of the Turner Motorsports Chevrolets, and the No. 13 ThorSport Racing Toyota of Johnny Sauter, who qualified at 136.464 mph.
James Buescher put his Turner Chevy on the inside of Row 3, where he’ll be flanked by Cale Gale in the first of the Richard Childress Racing Chevys.
Completing the top 10 were Ron Hornaday Jr., Miguel Paludo, Ty Dillon and series points leader Timothy Peters.
SPEED’s television coverage from Iowa continues with The NASCAR Camping World Truck Setup at 8 p.m. ET, with race coverage at 8:30 p.m.
With 14 of 22 Truck Series races in the books, Peters leads Buescher by 6 points. Dillon (-9) is next, followed by Kligerman (-21) and Justin Lofton (-31).
