Rowan Vine scored 10 minutes from time as St. Johnstone surprised Celtic, 2-1, on Saturday at McDiarmid Park to win its first of the season in the Scottish Premier League.

Kris Commons scored his second goal of the season less than four minutes into the fixture for Celtic, but Gregory Tade pulled St. Johnstone level inside 20 minutes and Vine added the match-winner in the 80th minute.

Vine accepted a pass from Nigel Hasselbaink, who entered the match in the 78th minute, and curled a shot into the net from the edge of the area.

Celtic dropped its first of the season, and it couldn't have come at a worse time with the start of the Champions League group stage Wednesday at Parkhead against Benfica.

Michael Higdon scored a late brace as Motherwell maintained its place atop the standings with a 2-1 win at Dundee, and Leigh Griffiths fired a double to keep Hibernian one-point off the top with a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

Also Saturday, Jim Goodwin and Lewis Guy scored as St. Mirren defeated Hearts, 2-0, and Cameron Smith scored six minutes from time as Aberdeen earned a point against winless Inverness, 1-1.
