Nets sign veteran F Andray Blatche

The Brooklyn Nets signed seven-year veteran power forward Andray Blatche Wednesday, general manager Billy King announced.

Blatche, 26 -- a 6-foot-11, 260-pounder out of South Kent Prep High School in Connecticut -- played in 26 games last year for the Washington Wizards, averaging 8.5 points and 5.8 rebounds.

In 13 games as a starter, he posted even better numbers, putting up 11.5 points and pulling 7.4 rebounds. His season ended early, however, when a calf strain forced him to miss the last 40 games of the season.

The 49th overall pick by Washington in the 2005 NBA Draft, Blatche appeared in 409 games during his tenure with the Wizards, and holds career averages of 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Blatche's career-best numbers came during the 2010-2011 season, when he posted 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

In eight career playoff games with the Wizards during the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons, Blatche averaged 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds.
