Matt Kemp will miss at least the rest of the Los Angeles Dodgers' series against the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants to undergo an MRI on his ailing left shoulder.

Kemp injured his shoulder on Aug. 28 when he ran, full-speed, into the center- field wall at Coors Field in a loss to the Colorado Rockies. The two-time All- Star missed a pair of games after the collision and has gone 3-for-30 since his return.

"We lost him at least temporarily," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said prior to Saturday's game. "He's going to have the contrast MRI, so he'll be down a few days."

Kemp is batting .315 with 18 homers and 56 RBI in 85 games this season and also missed significant time due to a hamstring injury.

Los Angeles, which lost the opener of the three-game series on Friday, trailed the Giants by 5 1/2 games entering Saturday.
