Padres activate Cashner, Thatcher from DL

Denver, CO – The San Diego Padres activated pitchers Andrew Cashner and Joe Thatcher from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

Cashner, 25, was placed on the DL on July 4 with a strained right latissimus dorsi muscle. In 30 games -- three starts -- for the Padres this season, the hard-throwing right-hander pitched to a record of 3-3 with a 3.44 earned-run average with 45 strikeouts and 19 walks.

Thatcher, 30, hit the DL on July 30 with right knee tendonitis. In 40 appearances out of the bullpen for the Padres, he has gone 0-4 with a 3.42 ERA, 28 strikeouts and 10 walks.
