The New York Yankees have acquired outfielder/first baseman Steve Pearce from the Houston Astros in exchange for cash considerations.

The 29-year-old Pearce returns to the Yankees, where his season began when he signed a minor league deal with the club back in March before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles on June 2nd. During his time with the Yankees Triple-A Scranton affiliate, Pearce hit .318 in just under 200 at-bats, with 11 home runs and 30 RBI.

After a short stint with the Orioles, they designated him for assignment and was claimed by the Astros on July 28th. With Houston, he batted .254 (16- for-63) with eight RBI.

The Yankees designated infielder Brandon Laird for assignment. Meanwhile, Houston recalled outfielder Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
