Juventus opened defense of its Serie A crown on Saturday by scoring two goals in the second half of a 2-0 win against Parma at Juventus Stadium.
Arturo Vidal should have put the hosts in front before halftime, but he failed to convert from the penalty spot as his poorly-taken kick was easily saved by goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.
However, Juve picked it up after the break and went ahead in the 54th minute through Stephan Lichtsteiner, who met Kwadwo Asamoah's low cross inside the six-yard box to redirect the ball into the net.
Four minutes later Andrea Pirlo made it 2-0 from a free kick as his shot was grabbed by Mirante but carried over the goal line according to the referee, who awarded Juve the goal.
Parma did manage to threaten in the final 15 minutes, but goalkeeper Marco Storari held up well to preserve the clean sheet.
Fiorentina 2, Udinese 1
Florence, Italy - Fiorentina's season got off to an exciting start on Saturday as the Viola claimed a 2-1 win over Udinese courtesy of a stoppage-time winner from Stevan Jovetic.
Udinese grabbed the lead in the opening half hour when Luis Muriel played Maicosuel in on goal and he slotted his shot past goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.
Zeljko Brkic Udinese in front with some strong goalkeeping but he had to retrieve the ball from his own net in the 67th minute after a shot from Jovetic took a wicked deflection off of defender Danilo and looped over the head of the goalkeeper.
It was a bad break for the visiting side, but they were unable to hold onto even one point as Jovetic latched on to a long ball from midfield and rolled his shot into the bottom corner of the net.
