Sunderland confirmed on Friday that the club has completed a deal to bring Manchester City winger Adam Johnson to the Stadium of Light.

The move comes just hours after Sunderland completed a move for Wolverhampton striker Steven Fletcher, boosting the attacking options for manager Martin O'Neill.

Johnson, 25, appeared in 26 Premier League games for City last season, scoring six goals.

But Johnson started just 10 of those games and it became increasingly apparent that he would struggle to find more time this season.

The England international becomes the fourth new arrival at Sunderland this summer, joining Fletcher, Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar and Tottenham striker Louis Saha.
