Matt Ryan threw for 220 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-26 passing as the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Miami Dolphins, 23-6, in preseason action.

Julio Jones caught four passes for 90 yards while Roddy White caught a score for the Falcons, who got their first win of the preseason. Tim Toone caught a 39-yard score from Dominique Davis while Matt Bryant hit three field goals.

Rookie Ryan Tannehill was just 11-for-27 with 112 yards and an interception for the Dolphins, who have lost all three of their preseason games. Dan Carpenter hit a pair of field goals in the loss.

Bryant's 45-yard field goal with 2:02 left in the first quarter accounted for the only points of the frame.

Carpenter answered on the Dolphins next drive as he split the uprights from 22 yards out, but Bryant countered with field goals of 44 and 51 yards to give the Falcons a 9-3 lead heading into the locker room.

On Atlanta's second drive of the third quarter, the team marched 66 yards over 10 plays and the drive was finished on a 10-yard score by White on a pass from Ryan for a 16-3 lead with 6:40 to play.

Carpenter's 52-yard field goal with 5:02 to play in the third made it a 16-6 game.

Toone's score with 8:36 to play in the fourth quarter accounted for the final score.
