Pirates reinstate Mercer, option Daniel McCutchen

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated infielder Jordy Mercer from the paternity leave list and optioned pitcher Daniel McCutchen to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Mercer is hitting .212 with one homer and four RBI in 25 games for the Pirates this season.

McCutchen was the losing pitcher in Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. He gave up a homer to Chase Headley in the 10th inning.

The Pirates also selected infielder Jeff Clement from Indianapolis and optioned infielder Yamaico Navarro to Indy.
