The Baltimore Orioles made several roster moves prior to Friday's contest with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Orioles activated infielder Ryan Flaherty off the 15-day disabled list, recalled pitcher Brian Matusz from Triple-A Norfolk, optioned pitcher Tommy Hunter to Double-A Bowie and designated pitcher J.C. Romero for assignment.

Flaherty, who has been sidelined since August 2 with tonsillitis, is batting .205 with four home runs and 11 RBI through 60 games with Baltimore in his rookie season.

Matusz has a 5-10 record with a 5.42 ERA in 16 starts this season for Baltimore, but made his last four appearances for the Tides as a reliever, allowing four runs in six innings.

Hunter has gone 4-8 with a 5.95 earned run average in 23 games (20 starts) over four stints with the Orioles this season.

Romero was acquired from the Cleveland Indians on August 13 and gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and a walk over four innings out of the bullpen.
