The Pittsburgh Pirates designated Kevin Correia as the starter for Monday's contest in San Diego.

Wandy Rodriguez had originally been slated to take the hill, but he ended up tossing the final two scoreless relief innings in the Bucs' 6-3, 19-inning win in St. Louis on Sunday.

Correia also took the mound on Sunday, but pitched the ninth and 10th innings. He will become the first hurler since Pascual Perez on Aug. 15-16, 1981 to pitch in relief and then start on consecutive days.

In addition, Pittsburgh made several roster moves prior to the opening of a three-game set.

Pitchers Kyle McPherson and Justin Wilson were recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, while pitcher Juan Cruz was designated for assignment and infielder Jordy Mercer was placed on the paternity list.
