Pittsburgh, PA – Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Neil Walker was forced to leave Wednesday's game in the first inning with a dislocated finger on his right hand.
With no outs and runners on the corners, Matt Kemp hit a grounder up the middle that Walker fielded and ran to second for the force play.
He was then slid into by Mark Ellis while making a throw to first. Walker's right hand bent backward as he braced his fall.
He stayed on the ground in obvious pain for several minutes before walking off the field with a trainer holding his hand motionless, but the Pirates announced an inning later it was a finger injury and not his wrist.
Walker is hitting .290 with 26 doubles, 14 home runs and 67 RBI through 113 games this season.
