The San Francisco Giants activated infielder Pablo Sandoval from the 15-day disabled list Monday and optioned infielder Brett Pill to Triple-A Fresno.

Sandoval was hitting .299 with eight home runs and 33 RBI over 62 games before suffering a strained left hamstring on June 24 against the San Diego Padres that forced the 26-year-old slugger to the DL.

Pill, 27, appeared in 43 games for the Giants this season and batted .222 with four home runs and 11 RBI.
