The International Olympic Committee on Monday stripped shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk of the gold medal she won at the London Games for doping.

The IOC said Ostapchuk tested positive for the steroid metenolone. She was tested on August 5, the day before the women's shot put event, and again after competing. Both samples were positive.

Valerie Adams of New Zealand was awarded the gold, while Russian Evgeniia Kolodko will now get silver. Fourth-place finisher Gong Lijiao of China moves up to bronze.
